How to Declutter Your Home on National Clean Up Your Room Day

National Clean Up Your Room Day

May 10 is National Clean Up Your Room Day. There’s no better time to declutter your home than now.

If you find it hard to get rid of irrelevant stuff, it’s time to rethink! Americans spend a whopping 1.2 trillion on unnecessary items annually! However, buying new items is great when you know how to declutter your room!

So what comes to mind on May 10? Old clothes and toys, piles of magazines from the 1960s, empty cans, and a host of other junk. These can make your room untidy and appear smaller.

Why Should You Declutter Your Home?

  1.  You Need Quality Space.
Your home may not be as small as you think. Arranging your stuff the proper way will allow for easy movement. And decluttering rids your house of stuff you don’t need.
  2. You Need to Get Organized
Having fewer items make organization easier. You’ll have enough space to neatly arrange your stuff. Besides, decluttering means you won’t have to rummage through items just to find what you are looking for.
  3.  You Need to Get Organized
By decluttering and organizing your home, you’ll know what items you already have so you won't buy the same thing.
  4.  You’ll Have Less Stuff to Clean
If you have too many items, like "trinkets" you’ll have a lot to clean, and it’s a waste of time to clean items you don’t need.

How to Declutter Your Bedroom

Start with a clean slate. First, put dirty clothes in laundry baskets, make your bed, and tidy up. Next, think of items in your room you no longer need. You can either donate, repurpose or discard them.

Search for torn denim, faded clothes, and worn-out footwear, it's time to say goodbye to them. Your closet should have enough space afterward. If you're undecided about an item, keep it in a separate bin until you decide.

One simple tip for keeping the clutter to a minimum is to always keep items in their rightful place. Arrange books neatly on the shelves. Keep clothes in the closet or in your dresser drawers.

Do you have a dressing/makeup table? Throw away expired makeup, and damaged brushes. Think: What items haven’t you touched for months? You probably don’t need them.

Once you've decluttered and arranged your stuff, wipe/dust surfaces and vacuum the room.

Don’t forget your mirror! A sparkling mirror can add the difference. Clean your mirror with OneTab Glass Cleaner. It’ll make it look as good as new.

Tip: placing it opposite the window attract nature’s shining light to your room.

Using an old spray bottle, add a OneTab Glass Cleaner tablet, fill with water and shake. Use a OneWipe Microfibre Wipe to gently wipe the surface of the mirror, and a second dry OneWipe Microfibre Wipe to polish the surface to a streak-free clean.
